Human Rights Complaint to be Heard
Nova Scotia's Human Rights Commission has appointed a board of inquiry to consider a complaint of discrimination based on physical disability in the workplace.
The complaint involves Dwayne McLellan of Shubenacadie, who alleges that his employment at MacTara Limited in Upper Musquodoboit was terminated because of his physical condition. Mr. McLellan has a degenerative disc disease and alleges that was the reason for his termination.
Donald Murray has been appointed chair of the board of inquiry. The hearing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the Dalhousie University Student Union Building, 6136 University Ave., Halifax. The board hearing is scheduled to continue on May 20, May 25 and June 2.
Boards of inquiry are the final stage in the human rights complaint process. They are independent, public hearings into complaints of discrimination.
