Province's First Energy Research and Development Forum
Oil and gas, renewable energy and climate change are just a few of the topics that will be discussed by more than 200 researchers, industry and government representatives at Nova Scotia's first Energy Research and Development Forum. The forum is being held in Antigonish, May 13-14.
"By co-ordinating research and development efforts, industry and the academic community can have a greater impact on current and future energy issues in Atlantic Canada," said Nova Scotia's Energy Minister Cecil Clarke. "Increasing research and development is a provincial initiative and an important part of Nova Scotia's Energy Strategy."
The forum is an opportunity for researchers, industry and government to share the energy research being done today and what the research priorities will be tomorrow. It will feature speakers from universities, industry and the research field and will include a keynote address from Chris Huskilson, chief operating officer of Emera Inc. The forum takes place in the Keating Millennium Centre of St. Francis Xavier University.
The Energy Research and Development Forum is a provincial initiative sponsored by the Nova Scotia Department of Energy and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), with support from Petroleum Research Atlantic Canada. For more information see the website at www.energyresearch.ca/forum2004 .
