Nova Scotia Seafood Industry Showcased
Local seafood exporters, suppliers and processors will negotiate with buyers and learn about the latest seafood innovations and technology at the European Seafood Show in Brussels, Belgium from Tuesday, May 4 to Thursday, May 6.
"This event provides a great opportunity for Nova Scotia companies to make direct contact with European buyers and build new business," said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Chris d'Entremont. "The importance of maintaining a close relationship with buyers is a vital for a successful long-term business strategy."
Nova Scotia exported more than $163 million in seafood products to Western and Eastern regions of Europe in 2002. Lobster was the highest exported species with more than $65 million in product sold. The other main species exported into these markets were snow crab, shrimp, herring, mackerel, and scallops.
The European Seafood Exposition attracts visitors from 100 countries and hosts the decision-makers and purchasers who dominate the seafood industry in Europe and around the world.
