TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Some Spring Weight Restrictions Lifted

Roads in the western area of the province will be the first to see the removal of spring weight restrictions.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works is lifting spring weight restrictions on roads in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby counties, and Region of Queens Municipality, effective 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28.

Further announcements on spring weight restrictions in other areas of the province will be made as soon as road conditions allow. It is expected that this will occur as early as May 3 for most areas, weather permitting.

Spring weight restrictions came into effect on March 10. The restrictions for trucks are announced each year during spring thaw to help protect roads that are weakened by wet, mild weather.
