Community Services Extends Deadline for Submissions
COMMUNITY SERVICES--Community Services Extends Deadline for Submissions
Nova Scotians now have an additional six weeks to review and comment on the Community Supports for Adults discussion paper. The deadline for submissions from the public has been extended to Wednesday, June 30.
A public discussion paper was released on March 30. Originally, comments from Nova Scotians were to be submitted by Friday, May 14. This extension provides an additional six weeks to review and comment on the ideas in the discussion paper.
"We initially provided six weeks for Nova Scotians to review and respond to the ideas in the discussion paper," said Community Services Minister David Morse. "While we have already received a great deal of feedback, our department has been asked to provide additional time for Nova Scotians to review the discussion paper. Now we have extended our deadline to June 30, providing three full months to review and comment on the CSA Renewal Project discussion paper."
The Community Supports for Adults Renewal Project discussion paper presents ideas for a new system of supports for people with intellectual disabilities, long-term mental illness or physical disabilities living in the community. Announced in November 2002, the renewal project is looking at how residential and other support services are provided to Nova Scotians with disabilities.
All Nova Scotians are invited and encouraged to read the discussion paper and share their thoughts on the best and most appropriate services that will make up a renewed CSA program.
Feedback on the CSA discussion paper will be analyzed to determine the scope and type of services Nova Scotians want to see in a renewed CSA program. Nova Scotians now have until June 30 to submit their comments on the ideas presented in the discussion paper.
Copies of the discussion paper are available on the Department of Community Services website at www.gov.ns.ca/coms or by phoning 902-424-3645 in HRM or 1-866-697-1875 outside Halifax.
Comments may be mailed to Community Supports for Adults Renewal Project, Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, P.O. Box 696, Halifax, N.S. B3J 2T7; faxed to 902-424-3287; e-mailed to [email protected] or left on voicemail at 1-866-697-1875.
