Upgrading Cumberland and Colchester
TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Upgrading Cumberland and Colchester Roads
Drivers in Cumberland and Colchester counties will see upgraded roads this summer.
Tenders have been called for paving jobs on Route 209 in Cumberland County, and Upper John Road in Colchester County.
"Improvements to these roads bring real benefits to area residents," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Goods and services will move quickly and drivers will have safer and smoother travels."
The department plans to repave 6.8 kilometres of Route 209 from North Greville Road westerly, and will repave 5.4 kilometres of Upper John Road from Route 311 easterly to Wallace Mingo Road. The work is to be completed by August 31.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
