AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES--Province Supports Industry at Hospitality Trade Show

This year, Nova Scotia will again be the host of ApEx, Atlantic Canada's largest trade show targeting Canada's hotel, restaurant and institutional food service markets. The trade show takes place from Sunday, April 18 to Tuesday, April 20 at Exhibition Park in Halifax.

"ApEx gives local companies the opportunity to promote and sell their products to industry buyers from across the country," said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Chris d'Entremont. "It successfully brings together food service buyers and leading suppliers."

Each year, the province sponsors the registration of up to six local food and beverage producing businesses, allowing companies to participate that may not have otherwise been able. Of the 350 exhibitors, more than 20 Nova Scotia companies will be present showcasing agriculture, seafood and beverage products. The event will also feature Atlantic Canada's most innovative and modern food service equipment available to industry.

Since it began in 1954, the show's attendance has increased by more than 50 per cent, with more than 3,000 industry professionals attending last year. Increased participation is expected to continue.

ApEx is open to qualified industry buyers. The trade show is owned and operated by the Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association and the producers of HostEx, Canada's largest hospitality event. For more information please visit the website at www.apextradeshow.com .
