Another Nova Scotia Job Record

Economic Development (Aug. 1999 - Jan. 2009)

Nova Scotia has achieved another record for jobs, Economic Development Minister Ernest Fage announced today, April 8.

New figures released by Statistics Canada reported that the total number of employed Nova Scotians for the month of March 2004 hit 442,700 -- an all-time high for the province. Since July 1999, more than 33,000 new jobs have been created.

"Once again, more Nova Scotians are going to work and earning a paycheque than at any time in our history. I would like to thank Nova Scotia employers and employees for continuing to show their confidence in our province and our future," said Mr. Fage. "Through Nova Scotia's growth strategy, Opportunities for Prosperity, our government continues to take action to build a better climate for more growth and new jobs."

Seventy per cent of the new jobs created since 1999 have taken place since the adoption of Opportunities for Prosperity in the fall of 2000.
