TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Improvements to Highway 103, Lunenburg County
Drivers on Highway 103 will see improvements in Lunenburg County this year.
About eight kilometres of Highway 103 will be repaved, from Exit 12 easterly to the Northfield Road underpass. The work includes a westbound off-ramp and an eastbound on-ramp.
"This is another important road improvement project that will have a positive impact on the road network in this area of the province," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works.
Dexter Construction was awarded the contract, valued at $901,000. Work is to be completed by Aug. 31.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
