Premier Congratulates Winning Curling Teams

Premier's Office

Premier John Hamm extended congratulations today, March 15, to the Nova Scotia men's curling team, led by skip Mark Dacey, on winning the Canadian men's curling title.

The win means Nova Scotia will represent Canada in both the men's and women's categories at the world curling championships taking place in Gavle, Sweden, in April.

"Nova Scotians are proud and excited by matching national victories of the province's men's and women's curling teams," Premier Hamm said. "The win by team Dacey is the perfect match to the talent and skill we saw in February by Colleen Jones and her teammates."

Nova Scotia's men's team came from behind in the last three ends of the Nokia Brier on Sunday, March 14, to defeat Alberta 10-9. The win is the first national men's title for Nova Scotia since 1951. The Nova Scotia Women's curling team, led by Colleen Jones, was victorious over team Quebec in February.
