WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT CORP.--Armour Group Awarded Development Contract

A consortium of business partners, led by The Armour Group Limited of Halifax, has been awarded the contract to complete a feasibility study on a proposed Halifax waterfront development.

Waterfront Development Corp. issued a request for proposals last November seeking proposals for development of Queen's Landing, a parcel of land owned by the corporation between Prince and George streets.

The feasibility study will also examine a possible expansion of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic that could include increasing its scope and exhibits relating to maritime history.

The development project will be managed by Waterfront Development Corp. in association with the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage and the Office of Economic Development.

The project is planned in three stages, beginning with the feasibility assessment to determine the viability of the overall development. If a decision is made to proceed, a separate contract will be negotiated with The Armour Group Limited to proceed to design and construction.

The feasibility assessment is expected to be complete by early fall.

The Armour Group Limited is recognized as one of the leading real estate development companies in Atlantic Canada. Its projects include Founders Square, Historic Properties and Park Place Corporate Campus as well as a large residential portfolio.
