TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS-Traffic Advisory, Cape Breton Island, Antigonish, Update

Drivers are asked to remain off the roads today, Feb. 27, across Cape Breton Island and Antigonish County due to inclement weather.

The Canso Causeway is now open to one lane of escorted traffic. However, high winds may force a short-term closure at a moment's notice.

Travellers planning to cross Cape Breton are asked to postpone their trip until conditions improve.

Roads are blocked due to drifting snow conditions, including the Cabot Trail from Margaree Forks to Cheticamp and Route 395. Poor weather is expected to continue until Saturday, Feb. 28.

Staff from Nova Scotia Transportation and Public Works are working non-stop to open the arterial road system. Local roads will be opened as weather conditions permit.
