Highways Update, Sunday, Feb. 22
Most provincial roads are now open and virtually all provincially maintained roads will be open by tonight, Feb. 22.
Staff from Nova Scotia's Transportation and Public Works Department will continue to widen roads and are asking the public and private plow operators to push snow off the roadway.
Staff are also reminding parents to ensure children do not play or tunnel in snowbanks along roads in coming days, since crews will be pushing back snowbanks.
Motorists are advised to use caution near intersections where visibility has been reduced by high snowbanks.
In addition, driveways may be filled as a result of the widening operation. Department staff apologize for this necessary inconvenience and ask for the public's continued patience as they carry out their work.
