Provincial State of Emergency Declared
Ernest Fage, minister responsible for the Emergency Measures Act, has declared a provincial state of emergency as of 8:30 a.m., today, Feb. 19.
“The snow storm has closed most major highways creating dangerous conditions for the public and severely restricting emergency response across the province,” said Mr. Fage. “The public is to stay indoors and off the roads so emergency services can respond to the storm when it is safe to do so. Public safety must be our number one concern.”
The minister, during the state of emergency, has the authority to do everything necessary to ensure the health and safety of the public and protection of property.
Nova Scotia’s emergency operations centre has been activated.
Nova Scotians should continue listening to their local media outlets for further updates.
