Two Bridges To Be Replaced
Hants County and Kings County residents can look forward to improved transportation links this year.
Tenders have been announced to replace Elmsdale No. 2 Bridge on Trunk 2 in Hants County, and White Rock Bridge on Deep Hollow Road in Kings County. The tenders close Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Thursday, Feb. 12 respectively.
"These bridges will make the transportation networks in their areas stronger," said acting Transportation and Public Works Minister Ernie Fage. "These are significant investments for the people who will use these structures."
Motorists are now using temporary panel bridges at both locations after engineers determined the old structures needed replacement.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
