Interim Special Adviser Appointed

Acadian Affairs Minister Chris d'Entremont today, Dec. 30, announced the appointment of Kenneth Gaudet of Meteghan, Digby Co., as interim special adviser for Acadian Affairs.

Mr. Gaudet was acting director for Acadian Affairs from 2001 to 2002. He has about 30 years experience as a teacher and principal in the public education system and retired in 1996 as superintendent of the Conseil scolaire Clare-Argyle School Board. Mr. Gaudet has worked on several committees dedicated to French language education in Nova Scotia.

"Mr. Gaudet is well known and respected in the Acadian community," said Mr. d'Entremont. "His knowledge and experience will be of great benefit to the Acadian community in Nova Scotia."

Mr. Gaudet's appointment will take effect on Jan. 5, 2004. He succeeds Réal Samson, who will become acting executive director of the Acadian and French Language Services Branch with the Department of Education.
