DIAGEO Supports Nova Scotia Hurricane Juan Recovery Fund
N.S. LIQUOR CORP.--DIAGEO Supports Nova Scotia Hurricane Juan Recovery Fund
In a bid to support Nova Scotia following the Hurricane Juan disaster, drinks company DIAGEO Canada presented $20,000 today, Dec. 10, to the Nova Scotia Hurricane Juan Recovery Fund.
The Nova Scotia Hurricane Juan Recovery Fund was established to help restore Nova Scotia's natural environment in the wake of last September's devastating hurricane.
Partnering with the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC), DIAGEO Canada hopes to raise an additional $225,000 for the fund. It will donate one dollar from every bottle of its core brands sold between Jan. 2 and Feb. 28, 2004. DIAGEO's core brands include Smirnoff Vodka, Crown Royal Premium Canadian Whisky, Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, Captain Morgan Rum, Gordon's Gin and Johnnie Walker Red/Black Label.
"DIAGEO is committed to assisting local non-profit, community- based organizations in Nova Scotia," said DIAGEO Canada president and CEO Rick Fitzgerald. "We're able to access immediate relief funds through the DIAGEO Foundation, which operates globally. And, by leveraging the consumer franchise of our core brands in partnership with the NSLC, we're uniquely positioned to do even more."
DIAGEO Canada's $20,000 cheque was presented to Clay Coveyduck, an administrator of the Nova Scotia Hurricane Juan Recovery Fund, today in Halifax.
