TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Road Improvements Coming to Colchester County

Residents of Colchester County will see more road improvements this fall.

A contract worth over $1.2 million has been awarded to repave about 8.3 kilometres of Trunk 2, from Taggart Loop to Portapique River.

"We are building stronger roads for a more prosperous future," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This repaving project, and other recent ones on Highway 104 and Route 289, are strengthening our road network."

Dexter Construction was awarded the contract. Work has started and will be complete by the end of October.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
