Open Farm Day Set for October 5
Farmers across the province will open their farms to visitors on Sunday Oct. 5, as part of the second annual Open Farm Day.
This year, 52 farms are registered to provide the public with an opportunity to see and experience the life and work of a farm business.
"This is a great opportunity for producers to showcase their operation and raise awareness of agriculture in the province," said Chris d'Entremont, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
Last year, more than 4,500 people visited farms across Nova Scotia. In the Atlantic region more then 12,000 people visited 135 farms.
Major sponsors for this year's event are: Sobeys, The Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Agri-Futures Nova Scotia and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
