Guysborough County RCMP Members to Take Part in Musical Ride
N.S. MUSEUM--Guysborough County RCMP Members to Take Part in Musical Ride
It will be a special occasion for two Guysborough County RCMP members -- one retired and one serving -- when the RCMP Musical Ride makes its final Nova Scotia appearance of the season. The Musical Ride will be at Sherbrooke Village on Friday, Sept. 12.
Harold Scott, a retired RCMP Corporal will be presented with the Voluntary Service Medal recognizing his service in the Second World War. The medal will be presented by senior RCMP officers during a special ceremony taking place in Sherbrooke on Sept. 12.
Mr. Scott was born and raised in Sherbrooke and served with the RCMP for more than 25 years. He is one of a few year-round residents still living in Sherbrooke Village, making the village a true living history museum. Visitors to Sherbrooke Village often inquire about the private houses in the village, wondering if they are occupied. One of the most popular private properties is a large brown house on the corner of Main Street and Mill Road. The house with the wonderful flower gardens -- as it is often referred to -- is the home of Mr. Scott.
Cst. Darren Pelly of Sunnyville, Guysborough Co., will take part in the Musical Ride on his horse Badger. This marks the first time that Cst. Pelley will have the opportunity to perform in front of a hometown audience and he looks forward to having many of his friends and family on hand for the event.
