Classical Guitarist, Mezzo-Soprano to Play Sherbrooke Courthouse
N.S. MUSEUM--Classical Guitarist, Mezzo-Soprano to Play Sherbrooke Courthouse
If you've always wanted to take a trip through Spain but can't make it overseas, look no further than next week's installment of the Sherbrooke Village Courthouse Concert Series for a little musical compensation.
Classical guitar virtuoso Daniel Bolshoy and mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah come together at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 to perform "From the Streets of Andalucia to the Courts of Spanish Kings,", an evening of Spanish music presented in the acoustically marvelous Sherbrooke Courthouse.
The recital is one of 24 presentations across the province as part of the 18th season of Musique Royal. Bolshoy and Nesrallah are one of four ensembles performing in 19 communities for the annual summertime celebration of Nova Scotia's musical heritage.
Bolshoy -- who has performed in five countries including Denmark, Sweden, and Israel -- and Nesrallah -- who made her mainstage debut to critical acclaim with Pacific Opera Victoria -- are two young, fast-rising Canadian stars on the national and international scenes.
Tickets for the Aug. 21 presentation of Musique Royal at Sherbrooke Village can be purchased at the door or in advance at a cost of $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for students. Curtain time for this concert is 8 p.m.
The Sherbrooke Village Courthouse Concert Series continues Thursday evenings until the end of August, at which time the concerts switch to weekend evenings. Most concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. For ticket or scheduling information call toll-free 1-888- 743-7845 or visit the Sherbrooke Village Web site at http://museum.gov.ns.ca/sv/ .
