Premier Congratulates Glace Bay Colonels

Premier John Hamm congratulated manager Henry Boutilier and the Glace Bay Colonels today, Aug. 11, on their Canadian Little League victory Sunday in Sydney River.

"Sport in Nova Scotia is alive and well. All of these young athletes, their coaches, managers and parents should be very proud," Premier Hamm said. "All Nova Scotians are excited by this tremendous accomplishment."

The Colonels won the final game 2-0 over the Moose Jaw team, representing the Prairies. Twelve year-old pitcher Brandon Petite pitched a no-hitter for the first time in his young career.

The Colonels made national history as they tied the record for five titles. The team also posted a record of 7-0 for the first time in their franchise history.

The team will travel to Williamsport, Pa., to compete in the Little League World Series.
