Cruise Your Corvette to Sherbrooke Village
Organizers of the ninth annual Sherbrooke Show & Shine expect a record number of entries for the show this year, and an especially high number of Chevrolet Corvettes.
Sherbrooke Village is partnering with the St. Mary's Tourism Association to present the show on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7.
Committee chair Wilfred "Sonny" Alexander says a new marketing campaign, supported by the Antigonish Eastern Shore Tourist Association and the Sherbrooke Now Partnership, will help spread the word about the Show & Shine to a much wider audience. A special salute to the Corvette's 50th anniversary should also attract special interest.
"The event already has an excellent reputation among Maritime car owners, and this year we've greatly expanded our grand prize package and added a special contest for Corvette owners," said Mr. Alexander. "Our community partnerships continue to grow and we're confident this will be the biggest and best show ever."
The grand prize for show participants will be a NASCAR weekend for 2 to Homestead, Fla., during the weekend of Nov. 14, 2003. The prize includes two tickets to a Busch Series race, two tickets to a Winston Cup Race, air fare, accommodations, and $500 spending money.
In salute to Corvette's 50th Anniversary, the Chevrolet Corvette will be the featured car of the 2003 Sherbrooke Show & Shine. Corvette owners are invited to "Cruise Your Corvette to Sherbrooke." As part of the celebrations, "Best of Show Corvette" and "Oldest Operating Corvette" awards will be presented at this year's show.
The oldest Corvette will be determined by the car's serial number. To win, the Corvette must be a privately owned, operating, factory original or restored Corvette. Replicas are not eligible to win. Registration for the oldest Corvette award must be completed by Aug. 15. The owner of the oldest Corvette will win an all expense paid trip to the 2003 Sherbrooke Show & Shine and must agree to put his/her vehicle on display for both days of the show.
Owners can register their Corvette or pre-register for the show through a special Web site at www.cruiseyourcorvette.ca or by contacting Sherbrooke Village at 1-888-743-7845.
