Enjoy Fresh Taste From the Sea
Fresh Nova Scotia seafood, summer and great restaurants are a sure recipe for a great time.
This summer, the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has launched a summer seafood promotion in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Fish Packers Association and Taste of Nova Scotia Society restaurants.
Eighty-two Taste of Nova Scotia Society restaurants will participate in a series of seafood specials, contests and promotional events.
"Nova Scotia is known throughout the world for its famous seafood products," said Gordon Balser, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. "As one of Canada's prominent tourist destinations we'd like to see more Nova Scotia seafood promotions in local restaurants."
A highlight of the promotion is a contest open to restaurant customers and wait staff. Each time a customer orders a seafood item from the menu, they receive a ballot to enter the contest. First prize is one night accommodation and dinner for two at the Quarterdeck Beachside Villas and Grill in Summerville, second prize is 20 pounds of lobster and third prize is a basket of Taste of Nova Scotia Quality food products and a Taste of Nova Scotia cookbook. The wait staff serving the seafood dish are also eligible to put their names on the ballot. Restaurant staff are eligible for a first prize of $150, second prize of $100 and third prize of $50.
The promotion will run throughout the summer and will conclude in early September at the Halifax Maritime Festival. For more information and a complete list of Taste of Nova Scotia restaurants see the Web site at www.gov.ns.ca/nsaf/marketing .
