Official Opening of Drumlin Heights Consolidated School
EDUCATION--Official Opening of Drumlin Heights Consolidated School
Students, staff and community members celebrated the official opening of Drumlin Heights Consolidated School in Argyle today, June 16.
Speaking on behalf of Education Minister Angus MacIsaac, Finance Minister Neil LeBlanc said it hasn't taken long for Drumlin Heights to become one of the best schools in the province.
"You have taken a brand new building and really given it a lot of heart and soul," said Mr. LeBlanc. "This new school is offering the students new and better programs than they were able to have before."
Drumlin Heights Consolidated is a grade primary to 12 school with an enrolment of 440 students. It first opened its doors to students in September 2001. It was constructed to accommodate grades primary to eight students from the old Argyle School and English-language grades nine to 12 students from the former École Sainte-Anne-du-Ruisseau. The school has a video studio with digital equipment, a music program and French immersion programs.
"We're delighted to have the opportunity to officially open the school," said Mary-Lynn Thibeault, principal of Drumlin Heights School. "Good things have been happening in the past two years and we look forward to being part of the community for many years to come."
Construction was completed in 2001 at a cost of $8 million.
