Road Work to Begin on Highway 104
Part of Trans-Canada Highway 104 in Colchester County is getting rebuilt road shoulders and a new coat of asphalt.
The province is rebuilding the shoulders and repaving 4.6 kilometres of highway from near Exit 15 to North River Road overpass.
Cost of the project is about $1 million.
"We continue to invest in our roads and bridges, across the province," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "We are taking the necessary steps to rebuild our road and bridge infrastructure."
Cumberland Paving and Contracting Ltd. was awarded the tender to complete the work, which is to be completed by Aug. 31.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
