Province to Upgrade Trunk 2
Trunk 2 near Springhill is receiving an upgrade.
The province is moving forward with five kilometres of repaving work on Trunk 2, from the town line west.
The work, worth almost $1.3 million, will be completed by Aug. 31.
"This work is important for our road infrastructure," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "It also demonstrates government's commitment to a strong road and bridge network."
Cumberland Paving and Contracting Ltd. was awarded the tender to complete the work.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
