NSAC to Hold Annual University Day

The Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) will hold its annual University Day on Friday, May 30 in Bible Hill from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.

High schools students interested in post-secondary education will have an opportunity to spend a day on campus. Students will meet faculty and staff, participate in program activities and learn more about the college facilities.

An information fair will be held to introduce students to the services and programs available on campus, including athletics, clubs and societies, academic support, student loans, health and residence services.

A parent information session will be held in the afternoon, providing parents with an opportunity to ask about student services, campus safety, student loans and academic issues.

"We think this is an effective way to remove uncertainties from the minds of students and parents in making this important decision," said principal Garth Coffin. "It helps make everyone more comfortable and gets us all off to a faster start in September."

Tours of the campus, residences and athletic centre are available throughout the day and all eligible students will receive a $100 voucher for use at the NSAC bookstore. Family members are welcome to attend. Registration will be held at the Jenkins Hall cafeteria, where a barbecue lunch will be provided.

To register for University Day students can contact the student recruitment office at 902-893-3432 or by e-mail at [email protected] .

With an enrolment of just over 700, NSAC gives its students the benefit of small classes and personalized attention from their professors. NSAC offers bachelor of science (agriculture) and bachelor of technology (landscape horticulture) degrees and technical diplomas in a wide range of programs, including engineering, pre-veterinary medicine, plant science, animal science, environmental studies, aquiculture, environmental horticulture and animal health.

The high-tech laboratories, on-campus greenhouses, working farm and aquiculture facilities provide students with hands-on experience in the subjects they are studying. Students enjoy an enriched academic life in a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive.
