Road Work Begins on Route 333

Improvements to Route 333 will be good news for business operators, as well as residents.

The popular tourist road is getting another 5.5 kilometres paved this summer, at a cost of almost $900,000.

That brings the total paving budget on Route 333 to $2.6 million since 2000-01.

"Route 333 is an important connector for tourists, as it leads to Peggy's Cove and is part of the Lighthouse Route," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This government understands the importance that roads play in promoting economic development and road safety."

The section of road to be paved this year runs from Indian Point Road southerly to Redmonds Road.

Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. was awarded the tender to complete the work.

The repaving is to be completed by Aug. 31.

It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
