Paving to Begin on Barrington Bypass

More than four kilometres of Highway 103 in Shelburne County will be repaved this summer.

Aberdeen Paving is going to repave the highway from Oak Park Road intersection east to the start of the Barrington Bypass.

"This is another example of our government's commitment to roads in Shelburne County," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "We are taking the necessary steps to rebuild our roads across the province."

Cost of the project is slightly more than $700,000.

The work is to be completed by Aug. 31.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
