TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS Ramey Road Contract Awarded

A contract to repave 4.2 kilometres of Ramey Road has been awarded.

Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, says the contract, worth about $700,000, is being awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd.

"We're doing important improvements to the roads across Nova Scotia, including Lunenburg County," said Mr. Baker. "This investment will help us improve public safety and help meet the important economic and social needs of our residents."

The road project runs from MacKay Road at Union Square northerly to Barss Corner Road.

The work is expected to be finished by Aug. 31.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
