Nova Scotia Declares May 18-24 VON Week

Nova Scotia will declare the week of May 18-24 to be Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Week in Nova Scotia.

Premier John Hamm is expected to sign a provincial proclamation on Thursday, May 15, designating the week to recognize the organization's nurses, health-care workers and community volunteers for their dedication to caring for residents of Nova Scotia.

"The workers and volunteers with the VON make invaluable contributions to the level of health care in our province," Premier Hamm said. "By declaring a week to thank them, we show the VON how important they are to Nova Scotians."

The VON has been active in Nova Scotia since 1897.
