More Road Improvements in Lunenburg County
TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--More Road Improvements in Lunenburg County
Roads in Lunenburg County will be getting some needed TLC.
The province announced today, April 11, that a tender is being called for work on Heckman's Island Road in Lunenburg County.
"The province made a commitment to Nova Scotians to improve roads, and this is another example of honouring that commitment," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "A strong road and bridge network is vital to economic prosperity and also helps build strong communities."
The tender calls for repaving of about 5.4 kilometres of Heckman's Island Road from Blue Rocks Road at Blue Rocks, northeasterly to the end of the listing. The tender closes on Tuesday, April 29.
This project is the second announced this year for road improvements in Lunenburg County. A tender announced on March 26 called for about four kilometres of Ramey Road to be rebuilt and repaved from MacKay Road at Union Square northerly to Barss Corner.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
