Continued Road Improvements in Halifax County

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Continued Road Improvements in Halifax County

Another 10 kilometres of road in Halifax County will see new pavement this summer.

The province is advertising a tender for work on Route 357 at Elderbank.

"Better roads mean increased safety for the people who live in Nova Scotia and for those who visit our province," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "These road improvements will benefit all Nova Scotians directly or indirectly."

The tender calls for repaving of Route 357, from Red Bridge at Elderbank, northerly about 9.7 kilometres. The tender closes on Thursday, May 1.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
