TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Updated Traffic Advisories, Road and Bridge Closures

Crews from the Department of Transportation and Public Works advise that sections of roads remain flooded in many counties across the province following heavy rain on Monday, March 31.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution, use alternate routes and watch for washed-out shoulders. Motorists are also advised not to cross blockades.

Damaged or flooded roads that are not marked can be reported to local bases at 1-888-432-3238.

The following is a partial list of roads and bridges affected in the last 24 hours.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY
Clydesdale Road remains closed to traffic.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY
Bourinot Road and Gouthro Road are closed.

COLCHESTER COUNTY
Two bridges are closed on Route 336 between Newton Mills and Eastville.

A bridge is closed on the Springside Cross Road between Route 289 and Route 386.

A section of Route 289 between Middle and Upper Stewiacke remains under water.

HANTS COUNTY
Trunk 2, one kilometre south of Trunk 214 in Elmsdale, is closed due to flooding. A detour is available along Highway 102.

New Dublin Road is closed.

Old Enfield Road is closed to truck traffic.

Halfway River Bridge on Trunk 1 going to Hantsport is now open.

Exit 8 into Hantsport and East Uniacke Road are also open.

KINGS COUNTY
The following roads and bridges are closed: Brooklyn Street; Route 359 Halls Harbour; Bridge Street; Whitman Road; Stewart Mountain Road; North River Road; Grand Pre Mountain Road; Bishopville Road; Route 358; and Lakeview Road Bridge.

LUNENBURG COUNTY
Trunk 10 from Cooksville/Pinehurst to New Germany remains closed.

Four bridges across the LaHave River are closed west of Trunk 10. The bridges are located on the following roads: Bruhm Road, Branch LaHave (Wentzell Lake Road), Veinot Road, and Lower Branch Road.

Two bridges are also closed on Chester Grant Road.

PICTOU COUNTY
A culvert has washed out on Route 289, just east of the Colchester/Pictou county line.

The following roads are closed: Powell Road; Old Alma Road; E. Fraser Cross Road; Brookville Road; Coromonie Road; Cameron Road; Glengary Road; Bannerman Road; McGraths Mountain Road; Piedmont Road; Straight Glass Road; McBeth Road; Andy Holmes Road; Meiklefield Road; Germaine Road; Loch Broom Road; Stewart Road; Black River Road; Gunn Road; Heron Road; Battist Road; Rod MacKay Road; Glen Road; Back Road; Pitt Road; Old Coach Road; Brookland Road; Lovat Road; Limerock Road; Middle Settlement Road; G. MacKenzie Road; Gravel Pit Road; Silver Road; Millbrook Road; MacPherson Road; Gairloch Lake Road; Montreal Road; and Route 289.

YARMOUTH COUNTY
The following roads have been opened: North Ohio Road and Cedar Lake Road.
