Trunk 1 to Receive Road Work

Drivers along Trunk 1 in Kings County will be seeing some fresh pavement this summer.

A tender to repave about 4.5 kilometres of Trunk 1 from Morden Road westerly to Greenwood Road was announced today, March 26. The tender closes April 16.

"This is good news for drivers in this area," said Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This government said roads are a priority, and we're backing that up with much- needed dollars."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from four district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
