Spring Weight Restrictions

It's a sure sign that spring is getting closer. The annual spring weight restrictions on Nova Scotia roads will come into effect provincewide at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 17.

The restrictions on heavy trucks is announced each year during spring thaw to help protect roads that are weakened by mild and wet weather.

A detailed advertisement, which lists all roads that are exempt from the restrictions, will be published in newspapers on Saturday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 18. Information will also be posted on the department's Web site at www.gov.ns.ca/tran .

The spring weight restrictions are in effect until 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 5. They will be removed sooner if road and weather conditions permit.
