TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Electrical Work to be Completed at Fisheries Museum
The province is making an investment in safety and in the preservation of a historical asset to the Lunenburg area.
Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, said the province will replace electrical equipment at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic.
The work -- to be completed by Nowe Electrical Ltd. of Bridgewater -- will upgrade the electrical panel from 208 volts to 600 volts. Work is expected to be completed by April 30. It is expected to cost about $39,000.
"The museum is an excellent tourism draw," said Mr. Baker. "Keeping our infrastructure strong is what this government is all about. The work is important as it keeps this valuable asset contributing to the local economy."
"This work is necessary to help us better serve the public," said Jim Tupper, manager of the museum.
The museum attracts about 100,000 visitors a year during its six- month season. The museum is located on the waterfront in Lunenburg.
