With the help of the Magnetic Hill Zoo, the museum has created an exciting display of live African animals including ring-tailed lemur, ball python, caracal cat, marabou stork, savannah monitor lizard and the largest land snails in the world.

Visitors can enjoy special performances of Tembo's Tale by Neptune Theatre School. Back by popular demand are the ever popular baby animals, courtesy of 4-H clubs in Hants County. There are displays by Agriculture Awareness and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and live reptiles courtesy of the Nova Scotia Herpetoculture Society.

"Along with good messages about nature, Adventure Africa promises to be informative, engaging and an entertaining event for all ages," said Alex Wilson, the museum's manager of interpretation. "In fact, the March break experience at the museum has proven to be the destination of choice for many metro residents and those visiting the city during their spring break."

Mounted specimens of a zebra, lioness and bushbuck and illustrative backdrops of the Savannah grasslands, the jungle and desert will set the scene for a multi-faceted program that touches on global issues like conservation, biodiversity and fascinating eco-regions.

"This is a unique event allowing us opportunities to present some rarely seen exotic material from the museum's collections," said Calum Ewing, manager of collections.

Adventure Africa runs from Saturday, March 8 to Sunday, March 16 at the museum. Admission is $5 per person, $17 per family of two adults and children, or $14 per family of one adult and children. Children under two are admitted free and season passes are accepted.
