TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--ADV--New Dining Hall for Residential Camp
Children and youth as well as adults with disabilities will benefit from improvements to Camp Aite Breagh near Orangedale, Inverness Co.
The province is investing $260,000 on improvements to the camp, which provides summer recreational opportunities for 1,000 Nova Scotians each year.
"The work at Camp Aite Breagh is great news," said Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism and Culture, on behalf of Michael Baker, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This is an important investment for the camp and the community."
The existing dining hall will be demolished and replaced by a 60- seat facility. Completion date for the new facility is June 9.
Camp Aite Breagh is a residential camp that is operated by the YMCA under contract to the Department of Community Services.
"The camp offers a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy one of the most scenic places in Nova Scotia and participate in recreational activities," said David Morse, Minister of Community Services. "We're pleased to provide the camp and appreciate the support of all partners to make these improvements."
"The YMCA is excited about the continued commitment shown by the departments of Transportation and Public Works and Community Services to providing quality facilities for the camping program," said John Meagher, manager of YMCA camping services.
Lingan Builders of Sydney won the tender to do the work.
