Congratulations to Nova Scotia Curling Team

Premier John Hamm congratulated Nova Scotia's Team Canada on its three-peat win at the Scott Tournament of Hearts in Waterloo, Ont., on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Team Canada, led by skip Colleen Jones, defended its Canadian title by defeating Team Newfoundland with a final score of 9-7. Other members of Team Canada are vice, Kim Kelly; second, Mary- Anne Waye; lead, Nancy Delahunt; fifth, Laine Peters; and coach, Ken Bagnell.

"Our Team Canada members, representing Nova Scotia, are a great example of how combining teamwork and sportsmanship bring positive results," said Premier Hamm. "Their determination throughout the games year after year is the reason they continue to remain champions of the tournament."

Colleen Jones has more Canadian titles than any other skip with wins at the 1982, 1999, 2001, 2002, and now, 2003 Scott Tournament of Hearts. In 2001, the Jones' team won the 2001 World Championships.

"Colleen Jones remains one of Nova Scotia's top athletes and has proven herself as one of the best curlers in Canadian history," said Premier Hamm. "All Nova Scotians will be cheering for her and Team Canada at the World Championships next month."

The World Curling Championships will take place April 5-13 in Winnipeg, Man.
