Johnson Made A Lasting Difference

Community activist Ruth Johnson made a lasting difference for African Nova Scotians, Premier John Hamm said today, Feb. 20.

Known as Dr. Ruth, the former Africville resident and honourary doctor of letters from Mount Saint Vincent University passed away on Monday, Feb. 17.

"For more than 60 years, Dr. Ruth worked tirelessly and selflessly on behalf of her community," said the premier. "Her efforts to build a stronger community helped build a stronger Nova Scotia. On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her family on the loss of a great Nova Scotian."
