Minister to Have Routine Surgery

Health Minister Jane Purves will undergo routine surgery on Thursday, Feb. 6, to correct a non-cancerous thyroid problem.

It's an elective procedure that will require about a week's rest.

The thyroid is a gland in the neck that acts as a thermostat for the body.

Ms. Purves says she looks forward to resuming her duties around mid-February.
