Tribute to Big Donnie MacLeod

Economic Development Minister Cecil Clarke paid tribute to the late Donald Archie MacLeod.

The former MLA and Cape Breton County councillor, known as Big Donnie, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, at the age of 74.

"For 30 years, Big Donnie served the people of Cape Breton with distinction at the municipal and provincial levels of government," said Mr. Clarke. "On behalf of the government of Nova Scotia, I extend my deepest condolences to the MacLeod family on their loss."

Mr. Clarke also noted Mr. MacLeod's significant contributions to numerous volunteer organizations, including the St. Columba Presbyterian Church, the fire departments at Marion Bridge, Albert Bridge and Gabarus, the Mira Community Pasture and Nova Scotia Woodlot Association.
