Holiday Season Message, 2002

NOTE: The following is the 2002 holiday season message from Lt.-Gov. Myra Freeman.

As the Queen's representative in Nova Scotia, and on behalf of my husband Larry and our family, it is a pleasure to extend warm holiday greetings to all Nova Scotians.

As lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia I have had many opportunities to meet extraordinary people throughout this wonderful province. Each time, I am impressed and proud to be a Nova Scotian.

It is a joy to experience the generosity and spirit for which the people of our province are known, and this spirit is especially evident during the holiday season. Throughout the year I have joined Nova Scotians in many community projects and celebrations and have thanked many volunteers for their commitment to improving our communities. The efforts of thousands of volunteers across Nova Scotia are making a difference and we can be proud of the dedication and unselfishness of the people of this province.

The rich culture and heritage of our province shines year-round and this season it glows especially bright. It is important that we take time to share our knowledge of the past and an understanding of the present with our children. This will lead to a bright and productive future for our province.

The holiday season is a time to celebrate all that makes Nova Scotia a wonderful place in which to live, and a time to give thanks for our neighbours, friends and families. As we spend time with our loved ones, we must also take time to think of our friends, the men and women who are serving overseas. It is important that we recognize their contributions. On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I thank you for your courage and your commitment and I hope that the holiday season finds you and your families safe and in the company of friends.

His Honour joins me in wishing all Nova Scotians the best of this holiday season. May the season bring you happiness, peace, good health and love, and may you have a safe and prosperous new year.
