Explore Nova Scotia's Country Roads This Winter
AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES--Explore Nova Scotia's Country Roads This Winter
Nova Scotia's tourism, agriculture and forestry industries have combined efforts to help beat the winter blues with the fall/winter edition of Country Roads, a self-guided driving tour brochure of the Glooscap and Sunrise trails.
The brochure has been developed in partnership with the departments of Agriculture and Fisheries, Tourism and Culture, and Natural Resources, along with the Central Nova and Pictou County tourism associations.
"Agri-tourism is a growing business throughout North America and the world, offering farmers a way to diversify income and providing tourists with a variety of experiences," said Devin Trefry, marketing co-ordinator with the Central Nova Tourist Association. "Central Nova Scotia's strong agricultural roots make the region an ideal location for developing this growing trend."
As a followup to a spring/summer brochure pilot project, the latest edition of Country Roads highlights fall and winter agricultural-related tourism attractions along the Glooscap and Sunrise trails. It includes a map and a listing of several accommodations and attractions, such as a sheep farm and wool shop, a bed and breakfast on a dairy farm, demonstration forests, a vineyard, a farm market, a maple sugar camp and woodland, and seaside and mountaintop chalets. All of the attractions provide great winter-weekend adventures.
