Deputy Appointments

Premier John Hamm has reassigned three senior public servants to fill deputy minister vacancies in government.

Howard Windsor, deputy minister at Transportation and Public Works, will become deputy minister of Finance as Bill Hogg resigns from that position. Mr. Hogg will stay on in government until the new fiscal year to assist with the budget process. He plans to retire in 2003.

Brian Stonehouse, deputy minister at Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, will replace Mr. Windsor at Transportation and Public Works.

Greg Keefe has been named acting deputy minister at Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. A selection process will be held as soon as possible to choose from a number of potential candidates to fill the job permanently.

"I would like to pay tribute to Bill Hogg's exemplary service to the people of Nova Scotia, most recently in helping develop our province's first truly balanced budget in 40 years," said Premier Hamm. "His dedication and talent will be missed by many."

The new deputies begin their assignments on Dec. 2.
