Premier and MLAs Salute Nova Scotia Farmers

Premier John Hamm and members of the legislature paid tribute today, Nov. 1, to Nova Scotia farmers for helping their Western counterparts.

The legislature unanimously adopted a resolution by Premier Hamm congratulating the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture and individual farmers for donating assistance to Western farmers through the Hay West program.

"Nova Scotia farmers went above and beyond the call of duty through their outpouring of support for their fellow farmers in Western Canada," said Premier Hamm. "Their generosity and hard work is a point of pride for all Nova Scotians."

At total of almost $20,000 worth of hay was provided to Western farmers through the Hay West program. The provincial relief effort included more than 2,000 bales of hay from Nova Scotia to Western Canada.
