Cease and Desist

The Construction Industry Panel of the Labour Relations Board announced today, Oct. 11, that it has taken action to end an illegal work stoppage that commenced Thursday, Oct. 10. The work stoppage involved a number of employees working at the Department of Public Works renovations project at 210 George St, Sydney.

The complaint filed today requests the panel to issue cease and desist orders against certain members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1588, the Labourers' International Union, Local 1115, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1852, and the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 1945, who are participating in the illegal work stoppage.

The panel has issued interim orders directing the workers participating in the work stoppage to cease and desist and to return to work at their next regularly scheduled shift.
