Mediator Appointed in NSTU Dispute
Environment and Labour Minister David Morse has appointed lawyer Milton Veniot to mediate the labour dispute between the Department of Education and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.
"Mr. Veniot has been successful in bringing about positive conclusions to previous mediation cases," said Mr. Morse. "He is recognized as a noted and successful mediator and is known for his fairness."
Over the past few years, Mr. Veniot has served as the mediator for successful conclusions at the University College of Cape Breton and the Halifax Regional School Board. His most recent appointment was as mediator for the faculty strike at Dalhousie University in March.
The minister stated that the appointment of a mediator is a normal dispute-settling mechanism and part of collective bargaining.
